Ector County Historical Commission BYLAWS

Section 1. B.   Historical Marker and Research Committee.
Duties.
Shall be responsible for identifying properties that should be marked; surveying subjects and sites for possible historical marker; researching or directing the research of others for those markers; securing locations for, and obtaining permission to erect markers; and updating landmarks list.
C.   Finance and Budget Committee.
Duties.
To assist the Treasurer in determining when the county budget is prepared; in preparing and presenting budgets as directed by the Executive Committee; and, in managing Commission funds.  In addition, the Committee will raise private funds to supplement county appropriations.
Section 2. The Commission Chair, shall appoint, with approval by the Executive Committee, the members of the standing committees and shall designate their respective chairs.  Chairs of standing committees mush be members of the Ector County Historical Commission. Membership on standing, special, or sub-committees shall not be limited to Ector County Historical Commission members but must include at least one.
Section 3. Appointment terms for standing committees shall run consecutive with Commission appointment by County Commissioners' Court.
Section 4. Commission Chair shall have the power to appoint other committees deemed necessary to carry out the programs and activities of the Commission; to designate their respective chairs; and to set terms of appointment.  These actions must be approved by the Executive Committee.
Article VIII

Reports

Section 1. The Commission shall make any and all reports required by law and may make as many other reports and recommendations as it see fit.
Section 2. Chairs of each Ector County Historical Commission committee, whether standing or special, shall make reports at the regularly scheduled Commission meetings or as requested by the Ector County Historical Commission Chair or Executive Committee.
Article IX.

Fiscal Year

Section 1. The fiscal year of the Ector County Historical Commission shall be the same as that of the county.
Article X.

Parliamentary Procedure

Section 1. Rules as found in the current edition of Roberts' Rules of Order are adopted as the regular rule for conducting meetings.
Article XI

Amendments

Section 1. These Bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the Ector County Historical Commission by a majority vote of those present provided ten (10) days written notice of the proposed changes has been given to the members of the Historical Commission.                      Bylaws Page 1  2   3  Quit
