EARLY PIONEERS WORSHIPPED WITH BAPTISTS, METHODISTS IN ONE-ROOM UNION CHURCH. ON 6 JUNE 1906 CIRCUIT PREACHER C.W. JACKSON AND 13 MEMBERS CHARTED CONGREGATION ON COURTHOUSE LAWN UNDER COTTONWOOD TREES. DONATED LOT AT THIRD AND LEE WAS FIRST HOME. TENT ERECTED ONLY DURING REVIVALS BECAUSE OF WIND, SANDSTORMS. IN 1911 MEMBERS DONATED LUMBER TO HAND BUILD SANCTUARY ON SAME SITE. CRUDE STRUCTURE IMPROVED PEICE-MEAL WITH FUNDS RAISED BY THE LADIES AID ACTIVITIES: BAKE SALES, CHUCK WAGON FEEDS. BAPTISMS WERE HELD IN RANCH, COURTHOUSE STOCK TANKS. FIRST RESIDENT PASTOR WAS BAXTER GOLIGHTLY. NEW SITE WITH BRICK SANCTURARY DEDICATED 1941; EDUCATIONAL WING ADDED 1949; CURRENT SANCTUARY BUILT 1966.
